Things That Last

Mark 13:30-31

Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

The temple was a magnificent structure. Then one day in AD 70, the Roman army rolled into town and destroyed the place that had been the Jewish center of worship for centuries. Where do you worship when there is no actual place to worship?

Jesus explained that worship is not about a place but a person. It is not an event but an experience. It does not have a beginning and end. Worship—demonstrating honor and respect for God—is continual. A temple is not needed to worship God. Through His Spirit, the new temple is the heart of every believer.

Anything built by human hands won’t last. Everything will pass away except the Word of God. But God has made us for eternity. That’s why true worshipers worship God in Spirit and truth, not in a structure or temple. True worship honors Jesus wherever and whenever.

Father, help me be a true worshiper all day, every day. Remind me that wherever I am I should be demonstrating my love, honor, and respect to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
