Genesis 50:20

As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.

Jacob’s favoritism for Joseph caused his brothers to hate him. In a hurried scheme, they sold Joseph into slavery. But what the brothers meant for evil, God sovereignly used to place Joseph as a ruler in Egypt and save many people—including his family—from famine. Through his brothers’ rejection, false accusations, imprisonment, and finally as second in command of Egypt, Joseph learned that God never wastes our time.

I know it may seem hopeless right now.  Maybe you are…

…between jobs…

…waiting for a husband/wife…

…recovering from another round of treatments…

…grieving a broken relationship…

…mourning the loss of a loved one…

But…the sovereign, almighty, all-powerful God never wastes your time. God has not forgotten you nor rejected you. He uses today to prepare you for tomorrow. Today let’s pray for trust and patience.

Talking Points

  • Thank God for his sovereign work. Thank him for working in your life even when you can’t see it or feel it. Thank God for the challenges of today that are preparing you for tomorrow.
  • Ask God to give you the patience to wait on his timing and to help you learn the lessons he has for you today. Ask God to help you teach your children that their heavenly Father is always at work in their lives.

And…keep asking God to help you depend on him throughout the day.
