The Journey with Ron Moore

Faithful Servants

Psalm 116:15-19
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his faithful servants. Truly I am your servant, LORD; I serve you just as my mother did; you have freed me from my chains. I will sacrifice a thank offering to you and call on the name of the LORD. I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people, in the courts of the house of the LORD—in your midst, Jerusalem. Praise the LORD.

Death is an unwelcome guest. We cringe at its arrival. But precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.

Death is an untimely visitor. It always comes too soon.  But precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.

Death is an unwanted intruder. Even at the end of a long life we hang on. Still death barges in. But precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.

Death always has its way. Sometimes arriving in a moment, through a long illness, through the process of aging. But precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.

Death is the last enemy. There is no glamour in any part of its process. It is a thief coming to take away all we have known. But precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.

For the believer death is only a transition. Because of Jesus we will pass from death to eternal life. That’s why we can say: Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.

Lord Jesus, thank You for conquering death for me. Thank You for the promise that as Your follower I will pass from death to life. In Your name. Amen.
