Creator and Sustainer

Psalm 75:1-5
For the director of music. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A psalm of Asaph. A song.

We praise you, God, we praise you, for your Name is near; people tell of your wonderful deeds. You say, “I choose the appointed time; it is I who judge with equity. When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm. To the arrogant I say, ‘Boast no more,’ and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns. Do not lift your horns against heaven; do not speak so defiantly.’”

God is not only the Creator; He is the Sustainer. He is the One who chooses the appointed times. Days, months, and years are under His sovereign control. He truly holds the heart of every ruler in His hand. He is the author of history.

God is not only the Creator; He is the Sustainer. When uncertainty shakes the world, He holds the pillars firm. When one country moves against another God is overseeing it all and working every move for His purposes.

God is not only the Creator; He is the Sustainer. Nothing in our lives is outside of His view; no movement is beyond His direction. When our world is shaken, He holds our pillars strong so we can live with unshakeable faith.

Father, my heart is unsettled. Things are hitting from all directions. My life is shaken. Remind me in a vivid way of Your sovereign hand behind it all. Steady me. Let me tell others of Your wonderful work in my life. Thank You for always being near. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
