John 17:1-5

After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.”

Wouldn’t you love to be able to say at the end of your life, “I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.” Jesus left us a great example by completing every one of God’s assignments. Can you think of anything more significant?

In order to complete God’s assignments for us, we have to start today. Here are a few questions to ask:

  • How can I complete the work God gives me as a young adult?
  • How can I glorify God in my singleness?
  • How can I glorify God in my vocation?
  • How can I glorify God in my marriage?
  • How can I glorify God in my parenting? In my grandparenting?

The answer to each question starts today. Finishing the work God gives you to do cannot be postponed. Today’s assignment prepares you for tomorrow. Finishing well begins now.

Father,

I want to be able to stand before You and say like Jesus, “I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.” Show me what I need to stop doing. Show me what I need to start doing. Give me the strength to honor You today in all that I do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Again Ron you hit the mark. We forget Throughout our daily lives as some of us go through the working day that we do have an assignment, not just to put our eight hours and then go home, our assignment starts as soon as we open our eyes in the morning and does not end until we close them and it’s only by gods grace that We are able to open and close our eyes to begin with, thank you heavenly father for all the things you assign us daily.
